Moving Towards A Single Oral Health Regulator

Explainer Animation for BC’s Oral Health Regulator Amalgamation Project

Within a tight three-week timeline, we created an explainer animation to announce the amalgamation of BC’s four oral health colleges and clarify the reasons behind it.

Directed primarily to dental professionals who are current college registrants, we designed the animation to have a friendly, authoritative tone that showcases the new regulator as modern and independent.

Our Approach

A group of 5 patients and 5 dental professionals. The characters represent diverse ethnicities, gender identities and age groups. The colour palette is blue, green and orange. The dental professionals are generally wearing scrubs.

Diverse Character Design

We designed the dental health professionals and patients to represent diverse ethnicities, and to be gender, body-size, and age inclusive.

Visual Metaphor

The client requested that we visualize the new regulator as a different, reinvented college rather than the merging together of the pre-existing colleges. To achieve this, we used shapes as a visual metaphor. Angular shapes representing the four colleges move closer together and morph into a circular shape representing the new regulator.
